Kick out your business workflows from the last 2 years — NOTION is better than before!
For all that are sick of regular, static tools like MS Office and other corporate Titanic software: I have used Notion since 2017 and still like it until today because of its new AI features, minimalistic surface and flexibility. It’s still better than Evernote, I guess, which I worked with since 2011.
Rethink your old workflows in #sales #work #recuiting #headhunting #office #projectmanagement #marketing #softwardevelopment, even if they are 4 years old. Digitalization is always moving, and many tools that were cool in 2012 or 2018 are now old-fashioned and their workflows.
Normally, you build or refresh your company and then, when you are set up, you work in your established workflows for decades. I know many headhunting & marketing companies here in Austria, that live tools wise in the middle-age. They have 5 assistants, who are printing and archiving emails and resumes or upload them to the system, like 20 years before. Never change a running system is very common in Austria, when it comes to middle-class companies (KMU’S). Yes, we use email, video calls and MS Office 365, we are a digitalized company.
To be ready for the future, safe costs and have effective workflows, it’s important to rethink your internal company workflows every 2–3 years and change at least 35% to stay up to date with trends and technology. (With my website, I do this annually.)
Especially, because we have to handle more and more information and work every day. The information load is increasing, but the tools we are used to using are sometimes from the beginning of the millennium or at least 10 years ago.
AI is a nice buzzword nowadays, and companies, especially in HR, think they are innovative. When they create a generic AI job ad, hoping that now the technical specialist will join their company if the AI has written the test.
This is bullshit! AI just helps us to handle massive info, workflows, and safe some time, but a perfect job add will not attract more candidates to join your company. This work, we headhunters, will do with our specific work, speaking personally to each candidate on a call, instead of sending mass-emails to them.
But to have a lean and minimalistic workflow regarding tools, helps you to keep your mind free for thinking, than being packed full of things your 2nd brain can do for you. Such a 2nd brain is Notion.
If you have vacation or time in a company workshop, I would recommend resetting your workflows to 0 and creating new ones from scratch with a few tools you really need.
Sometimes companies are stuck in their old school workflows and don't have the time to reset. It’s the same with going to the gym or losing weight.
Just do it and spend 1 hour every 2 days on sports or changing your workflows and after 3–6 months you will see some results.
I think there are 2 types of companies presently in the DACH region.
Those who have no clue about digitalization besides email and MS Office 365, and the others that were innovative 5–10 years ago, but can now be optimized even if they are smart. Less is more, and let’s do AI the basic work. This is a journey to refreshment, if you come from an MS Office thinking business world. You require at least 2–3 months to adapt to new workflows and use them daily to understand the new way of working.
Even if you know smart work and new work for the last 12 years. It has changed now again in the last 1–2 years.
So, I believe that you could work with Notion as the only tool you need as a company and cancel all other tools you are used too, even Google Workspace and MS Office 365. Maybe you just add a Sales CRM and an ATS on top, if you are used to it, but you can handle these topics in Notion as well. Writing email back and forth is not, what digitalization means, but backups of your data it is.
Finally:
You only need, internet, a computer, Notion, Calendly, a data backup like CloudHQ, a CRM/ATS and a website. That’s it. You are set up with your company, if you work in marketing, headhunting, any sales job, journalism, content creation, movie making, if you are a teacher, professor, work in project management, run a coffee shop, bookstore, or a boutique.
Only if you are not believing in the cloud, then this is not for you. But then I think you do not need the internet and can use a homer for business relations.
